Author Reception and Confratute Reception
Meet authors Ann Haywood Leal and Lynda Mullaly Hunt. Leal, who says she has been writing all her life, wrote her first novel when she was in sixth grade and then promptly mailed a letter to Judy Blume telling her all about it. To her surprise and joy, Blume wrote back. Leal is the author of two books for middle readers, Also Known as Harper and Finders Keepers. Lynda Mullaly Hunt published her first book for middle readers, One for the Murphys and is currently working on a second middle reader. Hunt is the director of the SCBWI Whispering Pines Writers Retreat and a UConn alum. Both Leal and Hunt have worked as teachers.
